“It’s simply rude.” Your idea that “man = person who carries heavy bags” won’t sit right with him. If you want him to carry your bags, ask him nicely, and don’t forget to show your appreciation. He will probably carry your bags for you anyway, but your polite manners will go a long way in soliciting his willingness to help.
