3. When she answers the phone disinterestedly
By answering the phone in a disinterested tone, you may give the impression that you’ve gone cold. While we know that there are many people who answer their phones sluggishly when they’ve just woken up or are tired, your boyfriend – who is calling because he’s looking forward to hearing your voice – will be disappointed. When it’s a call from your boyfriend, you should either make the effort to sound cheerful, or tell him the reason for your tone of voice–for example, “I’m sorry, I just woke up.”
