6. Taking his hand
This type of misunderstanding occurs when a woman lightly takes a man’s hand without meaning anything by it. Even if the woman is just treating the man the same way she would treat her female friends, the man is likely to take holding hands like boyfriend-and-girlfriend as a romantic gesture. One man told us, “When she gets drunk, she always rests her hand on my arm or thigh.” It would appear that some women get a bit carried away by the friendly atmosphere during a drinking party and make more physical contact than they otherwise would.
